Lithuania Plans to Remain in Eurovision Amid Boycott Calls
Lithuanian Radio and Television (LRT) said it would continue to follow the position adopted by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which is responsible for organizing the competition, according to reports.
“LRT adheres to the position of the European Broadcasting Union and is not currently considering the possibility of withdrawing from the Eurovision Song Contest,” LRT administration said in comments.
“The EBU decides on matters related to the organization of the contest, and LRT, as a member of the EBU, adheres to and respects the decisions made collectively within the organization,” it said.
LRT also confirmed that preparations for the 2027 competition are already underway, with artists invited to submit applications for Lithuania’s national selection, EUROVIZIJA.LT.
Broadcasters from Ireland and the Netherlands have announced that they will not participate in the 2027 contest, citing Israel’s inclusion as the reason for their decisions.
The latest boycott announcements come after several broadcasters also withdrew from the 2026 Eurovision competition.
